The small queer press is a continuous 2025 book club at The Pond aiming to uplift queer published works from smaller -mostly indie and micro- presses focusing on diverse stories of LGBTQIA+ life and people.
The book club will run in 2-3 month cycles, each quarter focusing on a different press.
In November and December we are exploring the works from tRaum Books. For November we are reading “Noema” by Dael Akkerman:
“This is a story about some things that happened to me about twelve thousand years ago.”
I
n the time known as the Mesolithic, it seems that all life on earth faces extinction. To stand any chance of survival, people must abandon the only way of life they have ever known. But to do that, they must first learn a new way of perceiving reality.
Noema is about the fluidity of human consciousness and the subjectivity of our ideas of time, of life and death, and of ourselves. It is also the story of the two young girls chosen to save all life on earth by a God who needs more from humanity than love alone.
tRaum Books is a queer micro press publishing authors from around the world. Their aim is to highlight trans and queer narratives and unusual narrative structures, through novels, novellas, short story collections, poetry, art books, mixed media and graphic novels. They publish creative, queer, strange, and subversive fiction.Read more about them here: https://traumbooks.com/
