We invite you to a conversation around “Pride is community”, the theme explored in the new issue of Chasing the Rainbow magazine.
The LGBTQ+ community is broad and diverse, bringing together people and groups with different ideas and opinions. This diversity is a strength. Ideally, Pride has the power to unite them in a moment of visibility and solidarity. In this conversation, we want to discuss how Pride can help bring our community together. What do we need for this? What are the basic conditions, and what is our common ground? And how can we build a community across borders?
Len Buggenhout is a Belgian journalist and founder of Chasing the Rainbow. He is currently working on a project about LGBTQ+ rights in Europe, through which he aims to participate in at least one Pride in every country in Europe.
People from local LGBTQ+ organizations and activists will be accompanying Len in conversation on “Pride is community”.
Chasing the Rainbow #3: Pride is community
Pride is more than a parade or a season. Pride also creates a fragile, powerful web of solidarity and memory that connects queer people across borders and generations. Those communities are the backbone of every successful Pride march. It is where queer people meet, organize and imagine new ways of living together.
